THE WORLD'S FIRST 3-LCD, HIGH PERFORMANCE ULTRAPORTABLE PROJECTOR.

The Epson EMP-5550 is a portable SVGA projector introduced in August 1999 and discontinued in December 2001, designed for business presentations and multimedia use. It delivers 850 ANSI lumens of brightness via 0.9″ 3LCD panels at a native 800×600 resolution, with a 300:1 contrast ratio and 95% brightness uniformity. The unit supports screen sizes from 30″ to 300″ at throw distances between 1.0 and 10.5 meters, powered by a 120 W UHE lamp (ELPLP07 / V13H010L07) rated for 2,000 hours.

Connectivity includes VGA, S-Video, Composite RCA, and 3.5 mm stereo audio, with support for NTSC, PAL, SECAM, and HDTV formats. The EMP-5550 features fixed horizontal keystone correction, manual zoom and focus, and EPSON BISCUIT resizing chip for VGA to SXGA compatibility. It also includes firmware-level presentation effects (Pointer, Line, Box, Marker), Sound Retrieval System (SRS) stereo audio, and a monitor out port for simultaneous local display.

True SVGA Resolution, with support for VGA and XGA

The EMP-5550 produces clear, vibrant images of 850 ANSI lumens, in 16.7 million colours, even in daylight conditions. Images have a brightness uniformity of 95%, thanks to the latest Polarisation Conversion technology and new 0.9" Polysilicon Ultra High Aperture LCD panels. This extends the variety of potential environments and facilitates note-taking during presentations.

New improved remote control

In order to provide maximum control of the projector functions, the remote control for the EMP-5550 has been enhanced to provide more versatility and ease of use. Although all features are accessible through the projector itself, the remote control provides simple control at a distance of up to 10 metres, giving the presenter the freedom to move around.

Advanced Auto Setup and On-screen Menu

To ensure instant action, the advanced Auto Setup function automatically adjusts tracking and synchronisation after powering on or changing input sources. For specialised adjustments, the EMP-5550 features a new On-Screen menu with Functional Icon to help identify which function is being changed, while the Help function provides additional on screen assistance. These are fully accessible through the remote control and projector control panel

3D Sound Retrieval System Technology

The EMP5550 features 2 x 1 Watt speakers with 3D SRS Technology for wider stereo surround sound than previous 3D systems. The speakers produce rich, powerful sound output for audiences up to 50 people. For larger auditoriums which require further amplifications, the EMP-5550 can be connected to external speakers.

Multi-Connectivity

The EMP-5550 can be connected to 1 computer and 1 video simultaneously, with audio available for each. This versatile projector can be connected to a multitude of input sources including PC, Mac, VCR, camcorder or digital camera.

Automatic source recognition means automatic switching to the relevant input source, enabling the presenter to switch from data to full motion video without any fuss.
