The Epson EMP-5500 is a mobile SVGA projector introduced in 1999 and discontinued in 2001, designed for professionals needing portability without sacrificing performance. It delivers 650 ANSI lumens of brightness at a native 800×600 resolution, powered by 0.9″ 3LCD panels and a 120 W UHE lamp rated for 2,000 hours. The unit supports screen sizes from 30″ to 300″ at throw distances between 1.6 and 16.7 meters, with a manual 1.3× zoom and focus lens and a throw ratio of 2.02–2.62:1.

Connectivity includes VGA, S-Video, Composite RCA, DIN 13-pin mouse control, and monitor out, with support for NTSC, PAL, SECAM, and HDTV formats. The EMP-5500 features vertical digital keystone correction, EPSON BISCUIT resizing chip for VGA to SXGA compatibility, and built-in 3D stereo audio via Sound Retrieval System (SRS). It also includes presentation effects like Pointer, Line, Box, and Marker directly in firmware, eliminating the need for ELP Link software.

EMP-5500 features the brightest image (650 ANSI lumen) of any mobile projectors (under 4.5 kg). With its newly developed high-aperture-ratio 0.9-inch TFT panel (800 x 600 pixels), plus a high-efficiency optical engine developed by Seiko Epson, it provides such unparalleled picture brightness in a compact, lightweight unit.

Remarkably smooth images projected by the Epson EMP-5500 are possible due to its new resizing technology. This technology enables balanced proportional resizing through the use of the Balance Image Size Conversion unit (BISCUIT), which has been newly developed especially for a mobile projector. By this processing unit, a circle curve is less jaggy and square lines are a similar thickness with VGA and XGA source.

All the Functions Necessary for Mobility

A mobile professional requires persuasive presentations to be made just about anywhere. The new Epson projector has performance and functions necessary to do just that. With a thickness of just 85 mm, it will fit into a small attach?ase, and the optical zoom function allows the size of the screen to be adjusted easily.

Easy to use

To make your presentations more impressive, Effect functions such as Pointer, Line, Marker, and Box, which had previously required ELP Link software, are now built right into the projector. The Pointer can be operated easily using only the remote control, and the ability to use an arrow or hand symbol to indicate things on a screen will make your presentations more persuasive. In addition, Line, Box, and Marker functions provide drawing capabilities that give any presentation more impact. Finally, this Effect function can be used not only with PC images but with video images as well.

Should you encounter any problems using the EMP 5500, simply use the built-in Help function. Press the 'Help' button, and the required instructions will appear on the screen.

The User's Logo function, which lets you project your company logo or brand trademark on the title page of your presentation, will strengthen the appeal of your corporate or product image.

As for audio, the Sound Retrieval System (SRS) allows you to accompany your presentation with clear 3D stereo broadcast over a wide area.
