The Epson EB-W16 is 3D ready and has a higher brightness level. Its 3000 lumens make it suitable for rooms, which cannot be fully darkened. The high brightness level is also beneficial for the image quality of 3D contents. Due to its WXGA resolution the projector is also HD ready , which is not only an advantage when you are watching films, but also presents your office files in the best possible way. Its format also fits the popular widescreen notebooks perfectly. Another new feature is the Screen Fit technology, which had so far only been used in the EB-17 series; it makes setting up the projector and optimizing the projected image much easier.
In combination with the Epson EB-W16 you can use the 3D shutter glasses of the 3D RF initiative. The radio controlled glasses deliver a brighter picture than the earlier models. Due to faster transmission the 3D images is brighter than that of older glasses with IR. Also the Epson 3D shutter glasses ELPGS03 can be used with rechargeable batteries, so it is not necessary to buy new batteries. This makes the Epson EB-W16 particularly inexpensive, if you want to watch a lot of 3D content.
The LCD projector works with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels in a 16:10 format. This automatically includes the formats 4:3, 16:9 and 16:10. The brightness level of 3000 lumens combined with a contrast ratio of 5000:1 is impressive, as the Epson EB-W16 review states. Therefore especially darker image contents are displayed very well. Another pleasant feature is the low fan noise, which is only 29 dB in Eco mode.
Connectivity options include one HDMI input, one VGA input and one VGA output (which can also fill in as a second VGA input). Older video devices can be connected via S-Video and composite video connections. USB type A and USB type B connections are available as well. USB type A is suited to display JPEG, while the USB type B connection can also be used as a 3-in-1 USB connection to transmit image, sound and control files. The built-in 2W speaker can be connected via composite stereo and the signal can be looped through via 3.5mm audio jack output, as the Epson EB-W16 manual explains.
Its optics enables the Epson EB-W16 to project an image of 2m width from a distance of 316 to 344cm.
Further features include a vertical (automatic) keystone correction of +/-30 degrees and a horizontal correction of +/-30 degrees and a practical AV Mute Slider at the front. It can be used to mute the sound of the Epson EB-W16 and it also protects the optics when you transport the projector.
Accessories include a carrying case, power cable, CD manual and remote control including batteries.
